P.Y.N. = Powerful Youth Night
February 4-5, 2012
Camp Elk River
This is the 10 Year Anniversary
of P.Y.N. Valley!! P.Y.N. (pronounced “pine”) Valley is an
overnight camp for Girls in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. It was
created specifically to bridge the gap between Pixie Valley (for
grades K thru 3rd) and Piper Valley (7th thru 12th).
P.Y.N. Valley is a winter experience at Camp Elk River for
registered Girl Scouts in Bloomington, Burnsville, Savage and
Richfield. Check-in for the event starts at 12:00 on Saturday,
February 4th and checkout will be completed by 1:00 on Sunday,
February 5th.
Troops will be staying in heated cabins with the main meeting
area in the Gray Koch Program Building. Since heated space
determines capacity, the number of adults attending will be
limited in order to open up additional spots for more girls. On
this overnight, girls and adults will participate in one craft,
one skill, one activity and one outdoor fun event. There will be
a Talent Show put on by the girls attending camp. The cost for
the camp is $17.00 per girl/adult.
Once again, we will offer the option for a few of the 6th grade
troops to stay over on Friday night. There is very limited space
available for this. If your troop should decide they would like
to do this – it would be troop time only. No program activities
will be provided. The cost would be an additional $10.00 per
adult/girl. You will be permitted to check in any time after
5:30 pm on Friday night.

registration information e-mail list.
All registration information will be sent out on November 1.
Once you receive your troop registration you will need
to return it by November 18, 2011. Registrations will be
accepted on a first come first serve basis up to the camp’s
capacity. All registrations received after capacity is reached
will be placed on a waiting list. FYI – in the past, P.Y.N. has
always filled prior to the registration deadline.
New this year… P.Y.N. Valley will now have a MANDATORY LEADER
MEETING for all troops wanting to attend the camp. We completely
understand how all of the leaders hate the word "mandatory" but
there have been many issues over the years that could have
easily been resolved by having a meeting prior to camp. Only one
person from each troop needs to attend the meeting but the
person that attends the meeting needs to be attending camp as
well. If you have attended PYN for the last two years and this
will be your third year - please give Liz a call to waive the
meeting for your troop.
The MANDATORY meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 29 at 7 pm. The meeting location will be at Davanni's in Burnsville
(on County Road 42 and County Road 11). See you there!
