BLOOMINGTON GIRL SCOUTS
Nine Mile Service Unit

Welcome to the website for the Nine Mile Service Unit. All meetings are currently scheduled for 7 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church on the second Monday of the month.

Reminders

  • VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are in urgent need of filling some positions for this coming Fall. It is important that we establish these roles over the Summer, so we can provide training and mentorship before Fall hits. Some of the positions we need to fill are:
School Organizer/Recruiter: we need ORs for each school to help new troops get started and to find troop homes for any girls at your school who are interested in joining scouting. This job involves attending the New Member Night in September and calling to check up on any new troops in your school a couple times the first year to make sure they’re thriving. There is council-level training for this position – it’s optional but highly recommended.
Event Organizer: our goal is to have special event offerings for the girls every month during the school year. There is council-level training for this position – it’s optional. If you’re willing to help organize one of these events, email us at .
Vice-SUM: the Service Unit Manager position is supposed to turn over every 3-4 years. I need a backup volunteer willing to learn about the job and be ready to take over next year – knowing several former SUMs are still active in our service unit and willing to help!

  • Annual Troop Finance Reports were due on June 15th. Please return them to Judy ASAP -- call 881-8804 for details.

  • Next mandatory Piper Valley meeting is August 10. Find out more.

Another Way to Support Girl Scouts... Go Shopping!
That's right, go head and buy something -- a new CD, the latest bestseller, essentials like toothpaste or vitamins, even a computer. But first join www.iGive.com. Every time you shop at one of the over 500 name-brand stores in the Mall at iGive.com (like Amazon, JC Penney, Land's End and many more), the Girl Scout Council will receive a donation of up to 26% of each purchase you make, at no cost to you.
Remember, donating to Girl Scouts won't cost you a thing through this method. But we'll miss out on extra money to help Girls Grow Strong if you don't join. So visit iGive.com now. Membership is free and your privacy is guaranteed.

Earn Money for Council Every Time You Surf the Internet
Instead of using Google for your internet searches, use GoodSearch.com. Be sure to enter Girls Scouts - Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys in the "who do you goodsearch for" box. Each time you use this for an internet search, money is donated. Spread the word!

Horseback Riding
Council-approved stables include Bunker Park Stables in Coon Rapids -- 763-757-9445. Remember to contact the council in advance and reserve the headgear required per SafetyWise. The council is always looking for stables to add to their list! To make a recommendation or reserve your horseback riding equipment, contact Emily Burck at 763-535-4602 or emily.burck@girlscoutsrv.org.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Many hands make light work! Our goal this year is to recruit one adult from each troop to fulfill a task in the Nine Mile Service Unit. Most jobs require 2-3 hours of service at a particular point in the year.

Please work as a troop to help us meet this goal!
